1-0 to the Arsenal!

We are in 3rd place at the second international break of the season and that’s a great thing. We are currently on a positive run winning or drawing the last 8 games in all competitions and that’s a great thing. David Luiz scored off a corner kick on Sunday to secure the win and that’s a great thing, too.

However, what bothers me are two things. A lack of consistency from half to half or game to game, and the inability to put teams away in the Premier League. Now don’t get me wrong, we’ll always take 3 points and the “W” but with the fire power we possess upfront we should be putting some of these games to bed earlier than the final whistle.

Auba is the main man but we can’t always count on him to find the back of the net every game. Lacazette will be coming back soon, and we still are praying for Pepe to produce a massive game and add big scoring numbers to his account.

In this writer’s opinion what we lack right now is creativity from our midfield. Is Ozil the missing link here? Who knows if or when we will see him play again. The mystery continues. Ceballos can be creative at times and so can Torreira. Guendouzi pushs the ball forward into the box but lacks the last skilled pass to make the magic happen. Let’s hope Tierney and Bellerin’s presence down the flanks will soon provide more chances for our strikers in the box.

And now the international break, and no Arsenal matches for 13 days. Oh boy, here we go again hoping no one gets injured. We are finally returning to full strength and any major set back would be a blow to the club. When our lads return to action they will face a grueling schedule playing 5 games in 12 days. Next up they travel to Brammal Lane to face Sheffield United on Monday, October 21st. This promoted team has started their return to the PL quite nicely.

So, off we go into our break. Enjoy the time off!

Cheers. Gunner 1953
