#7 is #10: Eberechi Eze signs with the Gunners

Arsenal pulled off a late night miracle on Friday by signing Eberechi Eze to a long-term contract.

Arsenal’s 7th new signing of the summer will wear the #10 shirt.

So, what is all the fuss about?

Eze is a 27-year-old forward and attacking midfielder. He last played with Crystal Palace where he appeared in 147 matches and scored 34 goals. His first senior club was Queens Park Rangers back in 2016. He also has earned 11 caps playing for the England National Team.

Eze is known for his tactical skills and quickness, and was highly sought after by Tottenham Hotspur before the Gunners pulled some midnight magic and made the player a Gunner. So, Arsenal is already one up on Tottenham already this season.

What does this mean short term for Arsenal?

With this signing, Mikel Arteta has a player he can play as a forward or as a #10 position. Ddepending on the seriousness of the injuries to Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka. Arteta now has more flexibility than ever, and has more quality depth than ever. If necessary, the boss could start Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli at left wing, Nuno Madueke on the right and play Eze as the #10.

However you look at it, this has been a great transfer window for Arsenal. Eze is now the extra cream on the top, and maybe there is even more to come before the window closes.
