So, did you watch that Champions League final on Saturday? Wow, I must say that was an unexpected result. Was PSG that good, or was Inter Milan just that bad? 5-0 speaks volumes about that quality of the two teams competing for Europe’s biggest football prize.
So, since Arsenal played PSG so much better than Inter Millan did in both semi-final matches, were the Gunners the 2nd best team in the Champions League this season? If Arsenal would have made it to the final, would Mikel Arteta’s club be celebrating a major trophy today?
So, have we underestimated the real success of this season properly, or are Gooners just pissed because the team didn’t win a trophy, while Hotspur did, tainting the perspective of Arsenal supporters.
So, in reality, Arsenal’s season included a 2nd place finish in the Premier League and semifinal appearances in both the Champions League and Carabao Cup.
So, on paper the season looks to be both reasonably successful and profitable, yet again, still there was no trophy lifted by Martin Odegaard.
So, how do we decide if the 2024/2025 season was a success or not? That’s something each of us need to decide on our own. My guess it would range around 50/50 success v failure among Gooner Nation. We always have the pessimists and the optimists. Right?
So, will the 2025/2026 season provide a clearer decision on Arsenal’s success or failure at this time next year?
Let’s hope so.
Cheers.
