North London is buzzing with good news on this Wednesday!
Let’s begin with yesterday’s monster 3-1 win over Southampton. That was a terrific team performance, lead by Cedric Soares, my Man of the Match! After Saturday’s heartbreaking loss to the Saints in the FA Cup 4th Round, the Gunners returned to St. Mary’s and rocked Southampton with one of the squad’s best performance of the season. So, at least for right now, we can relish in the fact Arsenal is currently 8th in the Premier League table!
The second piece of good news coming out of Arsenal HQ today is the signing of Martin Odegaard, who will be on loan from Real Madrid for the remainer of this season. If you have had a chance to watch any of his highlights on You Tube, you have seen what kind of talent we hope to see during the next few months. To back up the highlights, here are some interesting stats to show what Arsenal has added to the arsenal. Last season, Odegaard played more passes into the opposition box (20) and won possession in the attacking third more times (26) than any other player in La Liga. Mikel Arteta told this to Arsenal.com earlier today, “It’s great that we’ve secured Martin to come to us until the end of the season. Martin is of course a player that we all know very well and although still young, he has been playing at the top level for a while. Martin will provide us with quality offensive options and we’re all excited to be integrating him into our plans between now and May.” The 22-year-old Norwegian will wear the #11 shirt.
Finally, and maybe the best news of the day belongs to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who made a heart-felt statement earlier thanking everyone for their thoughts and prayers over the past few days. Auba revealed he had travelled home to be with his sick mother. However, now that she is recovering, the Arsenal captain will return to London and prepare for Manchester United on Saturday.
So, all-in-all, Wednesday is a good day!
Cheers.
