It will be hard to vent any more frustration or anger than has already been written or said about the “Friday Fiasco” at Brentford. However, I must get it out. Thank you ahead of time for indulging in my frustrations with our club.
We did a poll last week before the Premier League opener, and over 80% of those who voted were not confident Arsenal would have a good start to the season. And boy, were they ever right.
What we saw was nothing short of embarrassing. Fortunately, I was with a group of Little Rock Gooners, so I didn’t feel the pain alone. In many way, I think we almost knew it was coming. Mikel Arteta has apologized (again), and now more controversry could be working behind the scenes as well. Both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette were ruled out of the match with “illness.” Early reports indicate they could miss the Chelsea derby next Sunday, too. Do they have COVID, are they in the manager’s dog house, or is Arsenal preparing a swap deal involving one or both of these guys? It all seems a little odd to be happening right when the season opens. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, however, this one just doesn’t smell right.
So, here we are at the start of another season, a season that was suppose to be a chance for all of us to embrace the rebirth of Arsenal football. The transfer market was supposed to be full of surprises and big talent. Arteta would finally get the players he needed to help bring glory back to the Emirates. Instead, we have signed three good players, lost a few good players, and still have the names of Torreira, Kolasinac, Willian and Runarsson on the payroll collecting fat paychecks, while offering nothing in return. With 16 days left in this transfer window, I for one have lost the enthusiasm or the energy to ready about who is now linked with the Gunners. If we get Odegaard back, then great. It we sign a back-up goalkeeper and/or a right fullback, then great. I’m no longer holding my breath in anticipation. The air is out of my ballon already, and we are only one match into the season.
When I look at this squad I see enough talent to be better than we are, or at least better than what we showed at Brentford. Sure, we need more good players, that’s not the question. The bigger question is Mikel Arteta. Is there a plan, what are his tactics, and can he get these players to at a higher level. So far, the answers to those questions are: not sure, not clear, and I don’t think so.
Next up on the Premier League schedule are Chelsea and Manchester City. I hate to be a pessimist, but we could be pointless after three league matches. What happens then?
No cheers today.

Firstly I am glad I only listen to the games on arsenal player. Second, its a normal arsenal transfer market, once again we have failed to get the big bang players before season starts if we do sign one or two we will be 9-15 points down before they can settle and do full game. sack edu.
Late signing has negative effects. Early signings offer advantages to know the flopes. Arsenal recruitment process do far is poor, how can Edu gor for Holidays while it’s high time to focus on recruitment.
Edus transfer should be scrutinized I doubt theres high tech corruption over Agents.
