Monday’s Odds and Ends

Here’s your Monday’s odds and ends, as well as some notes and quotes worth repeating…

Football journalist Fabrizio Romano reports Juventus is not looking to replace Cristian Ronaldo with either Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Sergio Aguerro or Eden Hazard.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has joined the Belgian National Team as an assistant coach through the 2022 World Cup.

The Goal reports, “Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke is set to give Mikel Arteta more time as Arsenal boss. The report claims that he doesn’t want more changes of personnel at the Emirates Stadium having seen former head coach Unai Emery leave the club just 21 months ago. Still, the American billionaire is thought to have a limit and will likely sack Arteta if results stay the same in the coming weeks.”

The Sunday Mirror’s Alex Woods reports, ” Arsenal are bracing themselves for late interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Barcelona and several top Serie A clubs are reportedly monitoring his situation, and Arsenal would welcome the chance to both recoup some of the $77-million (USD) they spent on his transfer and also to lighten their wage bill.”

The net result is that they’ll consider offers, but they aren’t looking to force the striker out. There’s just evidently an acceptance that they’ll listen to bids from the various interested clubs.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles on Instagram, “All I wanna do is go where I’m wanted and where I’m gonna play.”

BBC Sport reports, “Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey has withdrawn injured from the Wales squad before Wednesday’s friendly against Finland and two World Cup qualifiers.”

Arsenal legend Lee Dixon, “It suggests to me that the Arsenal hierarchy are going to give Arteta time because these players aren’t going to turn it around tonight, next week or this season. It’ll take at least two years. Has he got two years? I would suggest they’re thinking yes, but ultimately there’s always a breaking point.”

Football journalist David Ornstein reports that Maitland-Niles has stated he only wants to play fullback and has never asked to play in the midfield this season.

AFC Bell is reporting Alexandre Lacazette has made a decision to stay at Arsenal until the end of his contract and then move on as a free agent next summer. However, reports today indicate Barcelona could be currently interested in Laca.

It’s official, Arsenal’s Miguel Azeez has completed signing a year-long loan deal with Portsmouth where he will get ample playing time.

Arsenal legend Martin Keown on Arsenal’s defeat at City, “I feel numb. I don’t think at any point is was really a game today. It’s becoming a little bit embarrassing. It feels like the manager is conducting an experiment within games. It’s too complex. The goals were comical. This is a really sad day for Arsenal Football Club.”

And finally…if you look at the current Premier League table, Tottenham are on top in 1st place, while Arsenal is on the bottom in 20th place. What more can be said?
