The clock is ticking, and we are getting closer to kick-off. Only 94 hours to go as I write this post!
Here are a few Arsenal headlines today…
Luis Enrique has returned to manage Spain’s national men’s team. He left that post in June to care for his sick daughter who eventually died from bone cancer. Enrique was allegedly contacted by the Arsenal brass to potentially replace Unai Emery.
Arsenal academy leader Per Mertesacker was quoted as saying “he would love to work with former teammate Mikel Arteta once again.”
Former Arsenal star Lee Dixon has encouraged Arsenal players to question Unai Emery’s tactics, and change them. Dixon, who is now a broadcaster for NBC Sports in the US, has been vocal about Emery’s lack of tactical understanding throughout the course of this season.
It was reported Lucas Torreira’s manager has said his client has no problem with Arsenal. He was also quoted as saying he has not met with any other clubs to discuss a possible transfer for his client because of his respect for Arsenal and Raul Sanllehi.
Granit Xhaka scored a goal for Switzerland during yesterday’s 6-1 Swiss win over Gibraltar.
Henrikh Mikhitaryan has said “it was a pleasure to work with Arsene Wenger. To every player he said just play football and enjoy it. Wenger said if you’re doing something and enjoy it, it means you are doing it right.”
According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal has taken first steps to convince Brazilian wonder kid Reinier Jesus to continue his career at the Emirates.
That’s it for today!
Cheers. Gunner1953
