Here’s a few Monday odds and ends…
Sunday proved to be a very interesting day in the Premier League, and helped provide an extra boost for our beloved Arsenal.
Two score lines were a lot of fun to watch unfold. First, West Ham Untied 1 – Tottenham 0! King Kane has just one Premier League goal this season, and the Gunners are now just one point behind Spurs in the league table. North London is Red!
The second final score was truly a shocker. Liverpool 5 – Man United 0! Mo Salah schooled Ronaldo on how to get a hat-trick in the Premier League! I enjoyed this one as much as the Tottenham defeat. Ole Gunnar is in deep kaka at Old Trafford!
So, as for our Gunners, we had a very nice 3-1 win over a good Aston Villa side on Friday, and, as stated by me, and many others, this match was probably Arsenal’s most compete 90 minutes of football this season. The unbeaten string is now 7, and 8 out of the last 9 in all comps. Three more wins before the November international break would be awesome!
On another topic, for those of you in the United States reading this post, I hope you had a chance to watch the NBC Sports Fan Fest coverage from LA over the weekend. It was amazing, as thousands of PL fans showed up in the wee hours of the morning on the west coast to cheer on their clubs, once again proving, soccer is becoming a real thing in the USA! Kudos to NBC for providing another great effort. Let’s hope they are able to renew their TV rights package in the States for years to come.
Finally, I want to give a shout-out to Mikel Arteta. Earlier in the season we, and me included, were not very happy with where our club was going. The season started off horribly, but we might have been too quick to point our fingers at Arteta. For me, I’m happy to see his current success on the pitch with this club, however, not until we are able to beat the big clubs in this league on a regular basis will I think he is the long term answer for the Gunners.
However, for now, I will give him the space and the opportunity to continue to improve as a manager, and to hopefully bring our club back to where it belongs.
This might be a stretch, and only wishful thinking, but I think Arsenal has a real shot at a top 6 finish, or even higher this season. The title race will undoubtedly belong to Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool, but the next three spots will be up for grabs. Hopefully, Tottenham and Man U will continue to slide, Brighton will begin to deal with the struggles of playing in top form in a very long PL season, while Leicester City is okay, but not great. The one real deal among the top seven right now is West Ham. They are for real.
There are still 29 league games to go, so a lot can happen, but I am beginning to feel a lot more confident in our manager and our team. As I stated earlier, the next three game will help set the tone for November and December.

We need to improve our goal difference. There are 4 teams on 14 points our goals against makes us last.
Champions league or Europa places may be decided on goal difference. The way to fix that is to score more goals. A lot more.
