Remember Paul McCartney and the Beatles great song, “The Long and Winding Road?” Well, that seems to be the story in north London as the road to the Emirates is getting longer and more winding to replace Unai Emery.
There are so many rumors, quotes and wishful thinking flying around the Emirates it’s hard to keep it all straight.
So, to get you up to date, here are some of the latest rumors, rumblings and quotes to hit social media…
First, the rumors or rumblings:
Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo is currently the bookies’ favorite to become Arsenal’s next manager.
Alexandre Lacazette will not extend his contract if Emery is still the Arsenal manager.
Massimo Allegri’s representatives have been contacted over the possibility of replacing Unai Emery at the Emirates. Allegri is allegedly already living in London and learning English.
Speculation is that Atletico Madrid manager Diego Someone is thinking about joining Arsenal if Emery goes.
If Emery gets sacked, Freddie Ljungberg would be the most likely candidate to fill the role on an interim basis.
There is growing belief amongst the Arsenal players that Emery is not the man for the job. They have lost faith in their manager.
Now, the quotes:
Harry Redknapp on Pochettino: “There are clubs in London who are having a terrible time. Why shouldn’t he go to Arsenal if he wants to? You think Arsenal fans wouldn’t love him there? I would have thought Arsenal would be looking at Pochettino now thinking, “Could we? Can We?”
David Ornstein of the Athletic was quoted as saying “it looks like a matter of when, not if Emery leaves.”
He also reported: “As it stands Unai Emery will still be in charge for the game on Thursday.”
And finally, the truth:
Arsenal hasn’t won a Premier League game in 51 days!
