Arsenal was ceremoniously knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Thursday, losing to Liverpool, 2-0.
The Gunners have zero chance of winning any silverware this season, and now must focus all energy on their final, remaining goal – a spot in a 2022/2023 European competition.
Once again, Arsenal’s lack of goal scoring punch against a top club was laid to bare. In both semifinal legs v Liverpool, the Gunners totaled just three shots on target. Please let there be a shining light emerge from this transfer window to help us find more goals in the remainder of the season, and beyond.
Mikel Arteta’s squad have been shutout in the last three matches, while scoring only once in the club’s last four. Against Liverpool this season, Arsenal has 0 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats, and have failed to score even a single goal in those three matches against the Reds. The other bad news, Arsenal has not won a match since December 26th, are 0-1-3 in 2022, and have slipped to 6th place in the Premier League.
What a roller coaster this season has been. The Gunners win a bunch, then lose a bunch. We have red cards galore, plus difficulty time keeping players healthy and out of the training room. Let’s hope the lads rebound on Sunday to remain in the hunt for a European.
Here are several quotes from Thursday,…
Mikel Arteta on the state of his squad, “A lot has happened in recent weeks, it’s been extremely difficult to manage the squad and the team because we’ve lost a lot of players and we have to re-unite, we have to win on Sunday and look from there because then we have a window and hopefully we can get some players back.”
Thomas Party on his quick red card, “Am responsible for anything that happened and will take all the critiques. I should be more intelligent not to get in a challenge already booked, but this is my personality. I like to fight for every ball.”
Jurgen Klopp on Diago Jota, “He was outstanding last night. The amount of balls he won, the areas he played. That’s absolutely helpful.”
Anyway you shake it, Sunday is A MUST WIN GAME. How many time have we heard or read that this season? So, to avoid duplicity going forward, let me go on record and say, ALL REMAINING FIXTURES ARE MUST WIN GAMES!
With 18 matches to go in the Premier League this season, I predicted the Gunners will manage 31 points from those matches, totaling 66 points for the season. This will not be good enough for a Champions Leaguer spot, but hopefully, enough for either Europa on Conference League play next season.
I hope and pray the Gunners prove me wrong, however, the nature of this inconsistent season has me concerned.
No cheers today.

Arteta needs to stop pissing about, we must start with two strikers, Laca and Nketiah (or martinelli)
Maybe put odergaard as an attacking midfielder.
I expect Arsenal to play
4 4 2 or 4 3 1 2
To win games we need goals. Arteta does not seem to understand that.
It’s pointless to have one striker who can hold the ball up in the hope midfielders will come through. By the time they do the opposition defence is ready. With two strikers they can nod on and go straight for goal.
Liverpool and Man City are above us on table they each play with 3 strikers. Perhaps Arteta should be watching videos of them to get ideas of us.
Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied on the video to make your point. You definitely know what youre talking about, why waste your intelligence on just posting videos to your site when you could be giving us something enlightening to read?
