There is definitely some drama to be played out over the final 2 1/2 months of Premier League’s 2021/2022 season.

What looked like a runaway by Manchester City has now become a two-car race to the finish line for the league title. If Liverpool can muster a win today, they will be level with City on games played, and only a single point behind them in the league table.

We also have to keep an eye on Chelsea, who is currently hanging on in 3rd place. Obviously, Thomas Tuchel has his hands full trying to keep his team focussed in the midst of the Roman Abramovich chaos. It looks like the Premier League will allow Chelsea to finish their fixture list, however, the club’s internal turmoil will be either a motivator or a curse for the Chelsea club. Can they hang on to third to finish their season?

Then there is the battle for 4th place. Our beloved Gunners are currently in the 4th place driver’s seat both with points and with games in hand. A win v Liverpool would be a huge bonus for Arsenal as they hit the home stretch of this campaign.

The Gunners competition for 4th is Manchester United, who is very hot and cold at the moment. Currently in 6th place is West Ham United, who also seems to be fluttering at the moment. , while Wolves (7th) and Tottenham (8th) both are trying to find some match consistency as well, as they, too, hit the final months of the season.

Obviously, a 4th place finish by the Gunners this season would be exceptional! It’s been 6 long years since our club was in the Champions League. However, today is not do or die for Arsenal, eventhough, 3 points, or even 1 point, would be a huge pick-up for this young team currently playing their best football of the season. The key today will be to generate shots on goal, and to shutdown Liverpool’s dynamic counter-attack. The Reds boast the top three scorers in the league, and will travel to Emirates Stadium desparate to win the match and close in on rivals Man City. Our lads will need to play at their best, and I expect nothing less!

This should be a terrific match featuring two of the league’s hottest teams meeting face-to-face on the Emirates pitch!
