Championship Sunday was exactly what we had hoped it would be – over-the-top exciting! Yes, it would have been nice to see Arsenal secure the league’s 4th spot with a win over Everton, however, it wasn’t meant to be.
However, at the end of the day, we need be proud of our club, and for what they have accomplished this season. The Gunners found the resilience to rebounded following those two devastating defeats to close the season on a high note, and to make their supporters happy at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Also, we need to offer congratulations to Manchester City for winning another Premier League trophy. What Pepe Guardiola has done at Man City is truly remarkable, and unfortunately, there is no end in sight for what the Sky Blues can still do in coming season.
Kudos also to both Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Spurs Son Hueng-Min for sharing the Golden Boot as the leading goal scorers in the league. And, a hardy tip of the cap to Liverpool’s Allison Becker for winning the Golden Gloves award for claiming the most clean sheets this season! Yes, it was quite a Champions Sunday.
Now, as we look to next season, the Premier League say goodbye to Norwich City, Burnley and Watford. These three clubs have been relegated to the Championship next season, however, I suspect we will see them back in the top tier again in the near future.
Coming into the Premier League next season are Fulham, Bournemouth, and either Huddersfield Town or Nottingham Forest. We can expect strong competition from these clubs as they will fight to make their mark and stay up in the big league.
With that said, we are now in that dreaded summer break without Premier League football. However, all is not lost. We still have plenty of international matches to watch, plus summer transfer news will be bubbling over each day, and of course, the 2022/2023 Premier League fixtures released on June 16th!
Stay tuned Gooners, there is a lot to be excited about in the months ahead!
