It’s hard to believe Leeds United ends today in 15th place in the Premier League.
Jesse Marsch’s club gave the Gunners everything they could handle as Arsenal’s gutsy performance keeps them on top of the league table following 1-0 victory at Elland Road.
After a very strange start to the match, that included a 40-minute delay after kickoff due to a problem with the officials’ communications system the Gunners were immediately confronted with a very determined and intense Leeds team.
Bukayo Saka scored a nifty goal in the first half off a brilliant Martin Odegaard pass, however, following halftime, Leeds United dominated possession.
Arsenal dodged several bullets, including a no-goal ruling due to an offside, a missed penalty kick, and a red card reversal that eliminated Leeds chance to tie the match with a penalty kick. The VAR gods were with us today.
All-in-all, a very interesting and exciting game, and another Arsenal win!
However, I’m sure Mikel Arteta will not be overall happy with their performance. There were too many easy long balls opportunities allowed, too many errant passes completely misplayed, not enough creativity in our final third, and at times, a lack of self-control that could have cost the Gunners all three points.
At the end of the day, a win is a win, as the team travels back to north London happy with the win!
Cheers!
