Who will back-up Eddie Nketiah?

With Gabriel Jesus sideline until at least March, and with the Gunners currently riding high in the Premier League, what steps should Mikel Arteta and Gaspar Edu take to ensure we remain solid on the Arsenal front line?

Obviously, Eddie Nketiah is the insurance policy the Arsenal executives put into place last summer. I believe Eddie will be successful leading our front line over the next few months, however, he alone can not carry the full load the #9 position requires during a busy fixture list.

Should Arsenal recall Folarin Balogun from Reims, where he has scored eight goals in fifteen appearances, or should we pay the big bucks in the January transfer market and go after the likes of Cody Gakpo, Joao Felix or Jonathan David? Just to name a few.

Whatever the decision, the Gunners will need strong reinforcements on the front line to support Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

The Jesus injury might also force the Gunners to delay other signings they had hoped to make, such as Youri Tielemans, Mykhailo Mudryk, Danilo and Jeremy Pino.

Reports indicate Arteta and Edu will have around $60-million (USD) to spend in the January window. They will now have to refocus their priorities on finding a solid striker.

It was really sad and disappointing to learn of Gabriel Jesus’s injury. He has been such an integral part of this season’s success. Even though his goal production hasn’t been what everyone expected, his contributions to this season have been tremendous in more ways than one. We wish Gabby a speedy recovery.

So, with that said, I’m sure the right decision will be made, and we will breath easier.

Until then, we look forward to Arsenal’s return to their Premier League schedule on December 26th v West Ham United.

Cheers.
