Is Carlo Ancelotti Arsenal’s next manager? After being sacked last night by Napoli (following a 4-1 win), the 60-year-old Italian is now in the spotlight for both the Arsenal and Everton managerial jobs.
Ancelotti has successfully managed some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. He has won the UEFA Champions League 3 times, and finished as a runner-up in another. He has also won the English Premier League, Italian Serie A, French Ligue 1, and the German Bundesliga. Obviously, he is highly regarded, and has arguably been called one of the best and most successful managers of all time.
What’s not to like about this guy? He has an amazing track record with big sides, his name alone could attract big name talent, and his style of play would suit Arsenal supporters.
But, is Ancelotti the man to get Arsenal back on track?
Here’s my opinion…
I really think Arsenal needs a man like Ancelotti right now, and maybe for the next few years. This club is damaged goods right now and the team needs someone with a big time pedigree and experience to come to north London to get things headed in the right direction. If he was given a chance to bring discipline, tactical genius and strong managerial experience to the Gunners dressing room, we might, just might have a shot at the top 4.
Arsenal needs an adult in the room!
Now I’m not saying Mikel Arteta would be a bad choice, I’m just saying more experience is required at this time in the club’s history. Ancelotti or Mauricio Pochettino would be better choices giving us more confidence for the remainder of this season, and beyond.
I understand no one has a magic wand to wave at this club and make things better right away, however, we need a real football man who has managed team’s in critical games, at critical times. I like Pochettino, but in my mind, Ancelotti is the right man, right now.
There is no way Everton can steal him away from Arsenal. At least I hope not because Carlo Ancelotti is the man to get Arsenal back on track.
