Arsenal defeats “nasty” Newcastle United to stay alive in title chase

Arsenal rebounded from a very shaky start to upend a team Mikel Arteta described as a “nasty” on Sunday in St. James Park. The final, 2-0 to the Arsenal.

The win keeps the Gunners just one point behind Manchester City in the chase for the Premier League title, however, it’s important to note that Arsenal has played one more match.

For me, even more than having an outside shot at the title, it has been great to see our team rebound from a very bleak April to produce two really good results in May. Now, if the lads can keep this momentum churning, the Gunners could reach a total of 90 points in the Premier League. No Arsenal team has reached that number since the “Invincibles” did it in 2003/2004. That in itself would be a remarkable achievement for Mikel Arteta and his club.

It’s hard to believe the season is almost over. With just three matches to play, we are looking at a summer that hopefully sees more outstanding talent joining the Gunners. June, July and August will be fun to watch.

However, in the meantime, let’s go Gunners! Finish strong and hope Manchester City slips up along the way.

Cheers.
