Is Pep having any success highjacking Declan Rice from Arsenal?

It’s apparent Manchester City is trying to play hardball with Arsenal over Declan Rice, although reported talks between City and Wet Ham United this week didn’t appear to go in favor of Guardiola’s club. The player in question has repeatedly indicated he prefers a move to Arsenal this summer, mostly due to Mikel Arteta. Inside sources claim this was made clear to City during their meeting with the Hammers front office.

Last summer, Pep let both Gabriel Jesus and Alex Zinchenko leave his club for north London. Obviously, both played a big role in Arsenal’s success. Did Pep have seller’s remorse last season? My guess is probably a yes, and that’s why City try and highjack Arteta’s attempt to sign Rice.

Sure, Guardiola needs to replace Ilkay Gundogan in his midfield, but just as important, at least in my opinion, the City boss wants to keep Rice out of Arteta’s new starting XI. He knows the north London club is on the verge of a major breakthrough to challenge his club for trophies, so why not try to get in the way of Arsenal landing a big name like Rice?

However, Rice doesn’t want to play for City, so get out of the way and go after another club’s top target.

Cheers.
