David Raya has officially signed with Arsenal on a one-year loan from Brentford. As part of the deal, the Gunners have the option to make the move permanent.
The Barcelona-born, 27-year-old goalkeeper will now challenge Aaron Ramsdale to be the Gunners #1 man between the posts. As anyone will tell you, competition is a healthy thing.
Arsenal Sporting Director Gaspar Edu said: “We welcome David to us on a season-long loan from Brentford. David is a top-quality goalkeeper, who has consistently performed to a high level with Brentford in the Premier League. With David joining us we are adding quality and depth to our squad so we can perform at the highest possible level in all competitions.”
Raya also commented, “The way that the club is going, it’s growing even more so it’s a beautiful challenge to take, and I couldn’t say no.”
Raya will wear the #22 shirt and will join the team in training immediately.
In my opinion, this is the most interesting move of the transfer window.
Cheers.
