The Gunners are just six days away from their next match, a meeting with Everton at Goodison Park.
The good news for Arsenal is that Everton has really struggled to start this season, scoring only two goals and earning just one point in the Premier League first four match days. Currently they are 18th on the league table.
But the bad news is that Everton has held a curse over our lads from north London in the last five matches the clubs have played against each other. Arsenal has just one draw in those five matches, and this is something Mikel Areteta is completely aware his squad needs not to repeat on Sunday.
There is one important statistic the boss needs to consider as he picks his starting XI v Everton. Gabriel Jesus’s has an impeccable scoring record against the Merseyside club. The Brazilian striker has scored eight goals in his last eight league matches v Everton, a statistic the Gunners boss can not overlook this weekend.
With sixteen players coming back from international duty, the first match back is always a tricky one for any club manger to manage. Those players are tired, possible jet-lagged, and some times a little batttered and beaten from their international matches. However, Everton could be the perfect opponent in this situation for the Gunners. Arsenal needs keep their momentum rolling, and most importantly, beating the clubs they should handily beat.
First, let’s hope all sixteen players return to north London uninjured, and then quickly find their mojo before traveling northwest to Goodison Park on Sunday.
