Will Arteta rest his stars on Wednesday for the Carabao Cup quarterfinal?

Arsenal heads back into the Carabao Cup tournament on Wednesday with a quarterfinal showdown v London rivals West Ham United.

Arsenal’s starting XI for this match will show just how serious Mikel Arteta is about winning this competition.

With an important Premier League match v Newcastle United coming up on Saturday at St. James Park, Arteta needs to keep his primary focus on that match, while hoping to get a win on Wedsneday as well. As usual, the boss is on a slippery slope, but I’m betting he rolls the dice and starts a primarily second team squad in the Carabao Cup game.

With that said, here’s my predicted starting XI for Arsenal at the London Stadium on Saturday…

[4-3-3]

Trossard, Nketiah, Nelson

Jorginho, Smith Rowe, Vieira

Zinchenko, Gabriel, Kiwior, Tomiyasu,

Ramsdale

Predicted final score: West Ham United 2 – ARSENAL 2 (Gunners win in a penalty shoot-out)

  1. Jorginho is out. Time for havertz to earn his pay. Arteta will also start with Ben White leaving tomiyasu as a sub.
