Play, don’t play, or move to Australia?

I really believe the whole quandary over whether the Premier League should resume playing football comes down to one simple question.

What is more important at this point in time, money or health?

I see the argument both ways, I really do.

The pros of resuming the Premier League includes such things as jobs for those people relying on matches to be played, providing some financial help for the league and its clubs, providing an outlet for the community to help take their minds off the pandemic’s impact, and also, allowing the PL to finish its season in a complete and fair fashion.

The cons of resuming the PL includes such things as putting the players, coaches and supporting personnel in danger of getting sick, using available testing for this purpose as opposed to making it available to the general population, loss of jobs for people relying on matches to be played, and, of course, creating chaos by not having a true final league table.

Obviously, there are more pros and cons to weigh in to the equation as well, however, these examples demonstrate this is not a yes or no type decision. There are a lot of gray areas, too.

From the start, I have proposed calling the 2019-2020 season null and void. As much as I miss watching our beautiful” game, in my opinion, the best decision is to weigh in on the side of health and safety. Do we need a distraction such as football in our lives today? Yes, we do, however, I believe health and life have to be the determining factors.

Now to do a complete 180, there is an idea floating around that I find intriguing!
Former player turned commentator Gary Neville discussed this idea a few days ago when he suggested the Premier League could move its remaining 92 games to a neutral country where the COVID-19 cases have been extremely low. With that said, Perth, Australia has opened its doors as a potential home base for the Premier League to finish their season.

To me, this could be the solution. I mean, if games are to be played behind closed doors anyway, then why not play them in an environment that is safer than the heavily COVID-19 infected homeland of England?

Obviously, this doesn’t solve all of the problems, but it is an interesting idea that should at least be discussed.
