Raul Sanllehi, Arsenal’s head of football, has been relieved of his duties. Managing director Vinai Venkatesham will take over Sanllehi’s role with the club.
Sanllehi said, “Working with Vinai, we have built a top team for the future. I’m proud and pleased with my contributions over the past three years.”
Venkatesham thanked the club’s ownership for having faith in him, and also said, “There is much work to be do to return Arsenal to the top of the game where we belong, which is what our fans rightly demand.”
With this change at the top, technical director Edu should gain additional influence within the club’s decision making structure.
The club recently fired 55 employees for redundancy, and are investigating why the club allowed an enormous transfer fee to be paid last summer for Nicolas Pepe.
All of this is part of the on going restructuring of the club, both in the front office and on the pitch.
