So, the 2020-2021 Premier League schedule is out, and Arsenal faces a demanding first three months of the season.
Two London derbies start the campaign, followed by matches against 5 of last season’s top 9 Premier League clubs.
Plus, throw in two Carabao Cup games, and 4 Europa League group stage matches into the first three months, and the work load for Mikel Arteta and his squad will be demanding, to say the least.
Here’s the Gunners first 10 Premier League matches…
Sept 12 – @ Fulham
Sept 19 – West Ham United
Sept 26 – @ Liverpool
Oct 3 – Sheffield United
Oct 7 – @ Manchester City
Oct 24 – Leicester City
Oct 31 – @ Manchester United
Nov 11 – Aston Villa
Nov 21 – @ Leeds United
Nov 28 – Wolves
Personally, I think Arsenal can manage at least 20 points from these 10 matches, even though 3 of those toughest match-ups, Liverpool, Man City and Man United, are on the road. It’s vital the club gets off to a good start in the league this season.
Also, the start of the season will be extremely difficult for a lot of clubs due to the calendar chaos created by the coronavirus. Unlike last season, PL teams had their squads totally on board before the start of the season. This year, however, transfers will continue through September, so we won’t really know who will be on our final roster until October 5th. Then, those players, coming into the squad late, will have to go through the usual adjustments.
Yes, we are in for man interesting start to the 2020-2021 campaign!
Cheers, and stay healthy and safe!
