Arsenal signs back-up keeper to replace Martinez

Mikel Arteta has made yet another signing.

Runar Alex Runarsson has penned a 4-year contract with the Gunners. The Iceland goalkeeper has spent the last two seasons playing for Dijon in Ligue 1, where he made 36 appearances.

At 25- years-old, Runarsson will become the #2 keeper behind Bernd Leno, and will wear the #13 for the Gunners.

The young keeper told Arsenal.com, “I’m just extremely happy, extremely proud, it is a big day for me and my family. I can’t wait to get started! It is one of the biggest clubs in the world, they’ve won the Premier League 13 times, the FA Cup 14 times. It is a huge club and obviously playing in the Premier League as well, it is a win-win situation. I know it is going to be a lot of hard work, but I am ready to do everything I can to get the most amount of minutes as possible.”

So, with only 14 days to go in this transfer window, Arteta is still in the market for more players. Houssem Aouar and Thomas Party remain the club’s two primary targets.

Hopefully, more good to new to follow in the days ahead!

Cheers, and stay healthy and safe!
