The Gunners lost 3-1 today to a well-oiled Liverpool machine.
Liverpool controlled the ball 66% to 34% of the match, and the Reds totaled 21 shots, with 8 on goal. Everyone watching knew the Reds would control the ball, and Arsenal was willing to let them do it, hoping to spring some offense off the counter-attack.
Alexandre Lacazette scored first, but missed another great opportunity late in the game to tie the score.
Even then, the Gunners kept their composure, kept their shape and most importantly, they kept their confidence.
Yes, we lost the game, but those are big positives to come away with.
Obviously, Arsenal needs to work on moving the ball more effectively from the back against a tough, pressing defense, plus there were too many passes lost on turnovers, however, as Gooners we need to understand this is still a team rebuilding, and a team that will only continue to get better.
Working through adversity like today is a step forward, not a step backward.

Agree 100%. This match was like the Community Shield, and with a couple of shots and a couple of calls going the other way, Arsenal could have stolen this one, too — although it would have been even more against the run of play, lol.
We’ve got a long way to go, but we’re on the right path. Just keep signing players like Gabriel, players who could develop into stars. Stopgap players may be useful, but we’ll need a team full of players of Liverpool’s quality to actually get to the top.
