So, what can we expect in January for our beloved Arsenal Football Club?
The month will be very busy, with at least six matches already on the fixture list. That number would increase to seven if the Gunners advance out of the FA Cup 3rd round.
The January schedule looks like this…
January 2nd – West Brom Albion (A)
January 9 – Newcastle United (H) FA Cu third round match
January 14 – Crystal Palace (H)
January 18 – Newcastle United (A)
January 26 – Southampton (A)
January 30 – Manchester United (H)
Yes indeed, January will present its challenges to Mikel Arteta and his squad.
Not only is that a difficult list of games, but Arsenal also has to deal with a busy transfer window, that will, hopefully, improve the squad for the remainder of the 2020/2021 season.
Players who should leave the Gunners for various reasons, include…
Mesut Ozil – exiled
Sead Kolasinac – needs to play somewhere, but not here
Sokartis Papastathopoulos – exiled
Shkodran Mustafi – still scares me when he comes on the pitch
Willian – big disappointment
Three players who would be successful at Arsenal, include…
Christian Erikson
Houssem Aouar
Wilfried Zaha
Isco
Also, do we need to explore recruiting a back-up keeper?
Potentially, I can see 10-12 Premier League points in January, but only if the team plays to the level they played on Saturday. Anything less than that, and the Gunners will remain in the bottom 10, and will probably see a new manager come to town.
January is make or break for the 2020/2021 Arsenal Football Club!
Cheers, and happy holidays!
