A big win, and the forgotten man

Sunday’s match was a joy to watch. The Gunners looked very impressive with their high press, their creativity and their overall spirit. Only a couple of poor defensive moments prevented this from being their top performance of the season.

Kudos to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for finding the form we expect to see, and hats off to Bukayo Saka, who once again put in a tremendous performance. #7 just keeps getting better and better. Cedric played another good game, as did Emile Smith Rowe, and new boy Martin Odegaard showed glimpses of what we can expect to see from him going forward.

Great game, Gunners!

However, there is one player who doesn’t get the credit he often deserves. Regardless of his flamboyant off-the-pitch fashion style, this guy just seems to get lost in the headlines after most Arsenal matches. I’m talking about Hector Bellerin, our 25-year-old right fullback who scored Arsenal’s 4th and final goal in Sunday’s win. Now in his 9th season as a Gunner, the Spaniard has pulled on the Arsenal shirt 229 times..

Bellerin, who is one of the fastest men in the Premier League, runs his legs into the ground every match. In my opinion, his work rate is tremendous, as he comes forward to work in the offense, then sprints back to cover his flank on defense. Sunday was no exception, and he should be given a ton of praise for his contributions in the win over Leeds United. Yes, he is not as flashy as Saka, or even Tierney, but his ball skills are still impressive, his attitude is spot on, and the fact he plays with his shirt tucked in sets him apart as well.

Congrats, Hector Bellerin! Even though you tend to get lost in the headlines, we Gooners see you each and every game!

Cheers.
