Arsenal Women celebrated with thousands of fans on Monday at Emirates Stadium following the team’s Women’s Champions League title win!
Daphne van Domselaar, Leah Williamson, Emily Fox, Mariona Caldentey and Alessia Russo have been named to the Women’s Champions League Team of the Season.
It took a grind-out performance but it was enough for Arsenal to defeat the two-time defending Women’s Champions League title holders Barcelona 1-0 in Lisbon to win this season’s top prize in women’s European football!
This is Arsenal’s first Women’s Champions League trophy in 18 years, a feat that will go down in Arsenal lore as one of the club’s brightest moments in their European football history.
Stina Blackstenius came off the bench as a substitute in the second half and just seven minutes later scored the match’s only goal, and the match winner.
Team captain Leah Williamson was named the Player of the Match for her tremendous defensive performance.
Congratulations to head coach Renee Slegers, her staff and the entire Women’s Arsenal family for achieving an amazing victory in the Women’s Champions League!!
Injury Report: Katie Reid and Laia Codina Panedas.
