Arsenal’s “back nine” begins on Saturday

Arsenal begins the second half the Premier League season on Saturday v Brighton and Hove Albion. The match will be played in the American Express Stadium.

Brighton and Hove had a terrific start to the season but have not had a league win since November 23rd v Bournemouth. 31-year-old Fabian Hurzeler’s squad is currently 10th on the Premier League table trailing Arsenal by 12 points and leaders Liverpool by 18.

The Gunners and the Seagulls battled to a 1-1 draw in Emirates Stadium on August 31st. Former Arsenal man Danny Welbeck leads the attack for Brighton.

Mikel Arteta believes Declan Rice and Kai Havertz will be fit to play, so the Gunners will have a strong line-up to run onto the pitch at kick-off on Saturday.

With that said, here is my predicted starting XI…

[4-3-3]

Martinelli, Jesus, Nwaneri

Rice, Odegaard, Merino

Calafiori, Gabriel, Saliba, Partey

Predicted final score: Brighton and Hove Albion 1 – ARSENAL 2
