Arteta has defensive holes to fill v Everton on Saturday

Mikel Arteta has a big problem. His #1 Premier League defense is suffering with a long list of injuries and a lack of depth to adequately back-up the sidelined players, especially if there are even more injuries in the near future.

On the injured list are Gabriel Magalhaes, Jurrien Timber, Ben White, Riccardo Calaflori and Tomiyasu Takehiro.

Still available are Lewis Miles-Skelly, Kieran Tierney, William Saliba, Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko. Only three of those players can suitably handle the defensive center back position. Oh yea, let’s not forget Thomas Partey who can also slide into a fullback slot as needed.

So, as Everton approaches on Saturday at Goodison Park, who will Arteta start on the back line to plug those defensive holes?

Here is my best guess for Arsenal’s starting XI v Everton…

[4-3-3]

Martinelli, Merino, Saka

Rice, Odegaard, Nwaneri

Miles-Skelly, Kiwior, Saliba, Partey

Raya

Predicted final score: Everton 0 – ARSENAL 2
