There is a hashtag on Twitter that really got me upset.

#Artetaout. Are you kidding me? This is one of the most shameful attacks on the Arsenal Football Club in quite awhile.

Okay, the Gunners are not currently lighting the world on fire in the Premier League, but give me a break. Statistics comparing Unai Emery to Mikel Arteta have absolutely no merit in this argument, and here’s why.

Arteta took over a very dismal Arsenal team late last December. The squad had no plan, no structure, no passion and morale was at an all-time low. Arteta came in and immediately began changing the club’s culture. Then the coronavirus hit. There was a three month delay. The team came back, struggled after the restart but continued to fight hard to win the FA Cup and a spot in the Europa League.

To me, this is a major accomplishment,

Then, after a three week break, the club resumed training, and played an abbreviated preseason.

Then, they won the Community Shield, beating Premier League champions Liverpool to win the Shield.

To me, this was another major accomplishment.

During al of this, Arteta and Edu were able to orchestrate some solid summer signings, including Gabriel Magalhaes and Thomas Party.

Too me, these were even more major accomplishments.

So, you say you want Arteta out. Why, because he is building a better club, a more competitive club?

No manager can come in, flip a switch and get a club to the top of the league in one quick shining moment. It’s a process, and we as Goomners need to give both Arteta and the team a chance to figure it out.

Yes, the Aston Villa game was a terrible way to go into the two week international break, however, brighter days are ahead.

Here’s a quote that should be posted in the Arsenal changing room…
