Back in 4th with Klopp and his Reds coming to town!

The Gunners played a terrific game on Sunday v Leicester City, winning 2-0 and moving back into 4th place in the Premier League. Mikel Arteta was extremely pleased with his squad after the match, as Arsenal has now won 5 league matches in a row, and are 8-1-1 in their last 10. The club’s recent consistency has been terrific.

Arteta told Arsenal.com after the match, “This is what all the coaches want and they understand what we want to do and they can do it at a certain speed as well, but then it gets more complex because you need the right timing, the right technique, the right quality, the right decision making, but you could see today there were moments that when it clicks everybody is on the same page and they all look for the same things, it’s very important.”

Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard were once again in top form, while Aaron Ramsdale was superb in goal. Alexandre Lacazette finally found his way back on the scoring sheet with a solid penalty kick in the second half to secure the Gunners 2-0 victory. Overall, it was a solid performance against a good squad.

However, in just 48 hours time, Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool lads roll into north London. Liverpool are currently in hot pursuit of Manchester City for the Premier League title, and have not lost a league match since November 7th.

On the other side of the coin, Arsenal is now 8-1-1 in their last 10 Premier League matches, but have o wins, 1 draws and 2 defeats v Liverpool this season in all competitions, including a 4-0 drubbing on November 20th in league play.

The Gunners have struggled this season v the top 5 clubs. So far they have 1 win, 1 draw and 6 defeats v the top 5 clubs in the PL. This statistic has got to improve immediately, since not only Liverpool, but Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United  all remaining on the Gunners fixture list. To maintain a 4th place finish, Arteta and his squad have to win as many points as possible in their final 12 matches, including points v their remaining top 5 opponents.

It goes without saying, Arsenal is playing their best football of the season, and at a time when they need to the most. The stadium was buzzing, the pundits are glowing with compliments, and the team is playing with passion and commitment.

Yes, it has been a bit of a rollercoaster season for this club, however, with a solid run-in, a 4th place or higher finish, and a strong summer transfer window, who know what the future holds for Arsenal?
