Brendan Rodgers: Should he stay, or should he go?

What will the Arsenal board of directors do, and if asked what would Brendan Rodgers do?

After managing a big club like Liverpool, the 46-year-old is surely eager to return to a bigger club than Leicester City, and I would hope the Gunners hierarchy would have him top on their list of candidates…however, even if the job was offered what would Brendan Rodgers do? In recent interviews, Rodgers hasn’t said he would take the job, but he hasn’t 100% said he wouldn’t either. He has left us a little opening to peak through.

Brendan Rodgers on Monday: “Yeah, the message is clear and it has been and probably I’ll get asked again until they appoint someone, but it’s very simple. I’m very happy here.”

Things and questions to consider…

1) His Leicester City side is playing marvelous football at the moment. The Foxes are third in the Premier League behind Manchester City, who has a game in
hand. Leicester host Watford on Wednesday.

2) The Leicester City management and supporters love Brendan Rodgers. He is king of the hill at King Power Stadium.

3) Rodgers has already left one team in the middle of the season (Celtic), so I am not convinced he would do it again. That’s not necessarily the mojo
a top manager wants to have splattered on his resume.

4) Would Arsenal be willing to not only pay the buyout of Unai Emery’s contract, but at the same time cough up the amount of cash Rodgers would be
expecting to earn?

5) Would Rodgers be willing to take on such a struggling club as Arsenal? Expectations would be very high for him to turn the season around quickly.
The honeymoon would be a short one.

6) Would Arsenal be willing to spend a lot of money in both the January and summer transfer windows to set-up Rodgers with the type of players he would need
to rebuild the Gunners long term?

7) And finally, is Arsenal still a big enough club for Rodgers to take such a giant leap of faith? The once proud Gunners have lost a lot of glitz and
glamour the past few years, and like AC Milan, the glory days are quickly becoming distant memories.

So, to wrap up this post, would Brendan Rodgers be the right man for the job? Would Brendan Rodgers be daring and brave enough to say yes?

The answers to these questions are…yes, and I sure hope so!
