The Premier League and its 20 members clubs have set a tentative date of June 8th to resume playing league matches. The games would be played behind closed doors, and maybe entirely at Wembley Stadium. There are a total of 92 PL matches to be played. They are also working with the FA to consider trying to mix in the remaining FA Cup games as well.
So, what does this mean?
Well, for starters nothing will happen until the British government gives the green light to play matches. The government has told the league they will not be given any special consideration to open ahead of other businesses. They will not be allowed to return to the pitch until it is 100% safe for everyone involved. The PL will also be required to provide mass testing when players, coaches and staff come in for daily training. Media members will also be tested.
If the June 8th date sticks, training could begin as early as May 18th.
Cheers, and stay healthy!
