Fingers crossed for the Gunners run to the finish line

I was reading an article this morning posted on a football website where the writer raised a good question. Does Arsenal struggle when they play three games in a seven day period at the end of a season?

This was the club’s Achilles heal last season, and now it appears it is again.

Now, this can not be construed as fact, but we must take a look a see the coincidence between last season’s April and May flop, and this season’s April flop.

There is no question Arsenal has greatly improved  this club. Now, they can hold their won against Europe’s big clubs. However, the Gunners are at least a year away from taking home the big trophies.

Wednesday’s performance lacked a killer instinct. Even though Arsenal controlled the ball for a lot of the game, Bayern Munich still controlled the game. The German dynasty was just waiting for that one opening to strike, and finally, in the 63rd minute it did.

Mikel Arteta has brought this team a long way in his four years at the helm. That can not bet disputed, yet we supporters were obviously hoping for bigger and better things by now. We no longer will be able to accept late season plunges.

As far as my feeling go, I was really more disappointed by the loss to Aston Villa than the loss to Bayern Munich. I never thought we had a real chance to win the Champions League this season, but I did believe in our chances to win the Premier League. I’m not saying those chances are gone, but it’s going to take a small miracle, or probably a big miracle, to win the league this season.

As a true Gooner, I will remain positive, with fingers crossed.

We have six matches left, so a lot can and will happen.
