Has the ship sailed for Emery?

We are now 16 games into the season and we are getting a lot of headlines. Unfortunately, the press has been mostly negative.
In just the last few weeks headlines have focussed on Ozil, Xhaka, and Emery. Other names outside the club have also been included, such as Mourinho, Vierra, Arteta and Allegri. We’ve also read and heard over and over how Arsenal tends to collapse when holding a lead, or how the defense is inept, or even how the manager has lost his dressing room.
(Note: I’m guilty of adding fuel to this fire as well. Yes, guilty as charged.)

So, what’s next for Arsenal Football Club beside away matches this week at Vitoria and Leicester City, and what will happen during the upcoming international break? Will the aforementioned games make a difference in how the team ownership, its players, its supporters and the press feel about where AFC is going this season?

Let’s say they can find a way to win both of these games, that Ozil and Xhaka have strong outings in one or both matches, and that Emery finds a grip on his tactics. Is it too late, or has that ship sailed? And, what happens if they lose the big Premier League game at Leicester? Would Emery be told to find his own way back to London, clean out his office when he gets there, and provide a forwarding address for his severance check? Opinions vary, but a poll in a London publication indicated, by a wide majority, Emery should and would be sacked this weekend. It seems doing this during a two international break makes the most sense to allow for any sort of smooth transition for the new manager.

As stated in previous posts, this team has NO path to winning. After 16 games Arsenal have 8 wins, 5 draws and 3 defeats. We are winning only 50% of our games.
Last year, during Emery’s first season, we were 12-2-2 after 16 games. Obviously, the club is sliding in the wrong direction with arguably a stronger roster of players then 2018-2019.

Now, I sure don’t want to see Arsenal lose games so the manager gets canned, but on the other hand after watching the team’s performances over the past few weeks I really think the ship has sailed, win or lose. The performances are not good enough and the public outcry is too loud. There is still a long way to go in the three competitions Arsenal are still alive. So, with some positive change, cohesiveness and hiring the “right” man, this ship could be turned around before sinking into the abyss of football, also known as irrelevancy.
