I miss my Arsenal football! :(

How is everyone doing? I hope you and your families are still healthy and have been able to ward off the dreaded coronavirus!

All is well at the Yankee Gooner household. We are staying home for the most part, but still sneaking in an occasional round of golf, or a drive in the car, or even a visit with friends. However, for the most part, like you, we are socially isolating.

This down time has given me an opportunity to finish a lot of small household projects, complete reading a book I started months ago, and a chance to catch-up on stored TV shows on my DVR. HOWEVER, I miss watching football a lot! I wish I could get into watching the re-runs of classic football matches, but I just can’t. I need the live stuff! It’s like when I quit smoking, I wanted a smoke so bad but I knew I couldn’t have one. This football withdrawal is awful.

Now, I completely understand why the world has shut down. I really do. It’s a necessity. However, it still doesn’t prevent me from missing one of the most enjoyable things in my life…watching Arsenal football matches on my TV!

So far, 8 Arsenal matches have been suspended. The Premier League hopes to rekindle the season in May, but my guess is those games will be held behind closed doors with TV coverage only. Now, I hate the thoughts of having no stadium atmosphere as part of the game, but I think most fans would be thrilled to watch live football again!

I’m sure the TV networks would be happy to get the game back other air as well. In England alone, Sky Sports and BT Sports pay a combined $14.1-billion (USD) in rights fees to the Premier League. That’s lot of beans!

Okay, I’ve had my say. It’s back to reading about the transfer rumors, the Aubameyang contract/transfer sage, Arteta’s health, Boris Johnson, and of course, the coronavirus. Let’s hope this pandemic begins to peak and subside soon, not only for our physical well-being, but for our mental well-being as well.

Stay health!

Cheers. Gunner1953
