Is the Aubameyang transfer saga over at Arsenal?

There was some good news coming out of north London that should make all Gooners breath a little easier today.

Arsenal’s scoring maestro, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was quoted on Arsenal.com as saying:
“I am the Arsenal captain. I love this club. I am committed to it and desperate to bring it back to the top, where it belongs.”

Now, that’s not a long, involved quote, but I think what he said speaks volumes about his commitment to the club. I, for one, thought he would be used in the January transfer window as bait for Arsenal to fill their pockets with cash to use for signing much needed defensive help. I didn’t want this to happen, but in my heart of hearts I thought it would. In my opinion, losing Auba at this point of our season would be a total disaster. If Arteta can rebuild this club’s winning ways and continue to demand total commitment from it players, then maybe the Gunners can encourage our scoring talisman to sign a contract extension this summer.

Arteta responded to Aubaymeng’s remarks this way:
“I was thrilled about that and really happy. His commitment since the day I arrived through the door has been phenomenal, the work he has been pitting in, his attitude around the place with the players. I want him there and I am happy with him, so hopefully that is the end of the story.”

We all know that will not be the end of the story, however, it was both encouraging and uplifting to hear these comments coming from Arsenal’s two leaders.

Cheers. Gunner1953
