Luiz is injured, so does the Saliba and Gabriel era start now?

David Luiz has aggravated a neck injury he received in the Community Shield game on August 29th, and could possibly be out for six weeks.

So, Mikel Arteta has his first major head scratcher of the new campaign.

He is probably thinking to himself, “Should I start Gabriel and Saliba on the backline together for the first time on Saturday? Have they had enough training time together to make this work, or should I slot in Rob Holding or even Kieran Tierney to fill the Luiz void on Saturday?”

With Pablo Mari, Shkodran Mustafi and Calum Chambers on the injured list, and Sokratis possibly on his way to Napoli, all of a sudden Arteta has a shortage on the back line, again.

Now, I don’t mean to disrespect Fulham, however, since Arsenal is playing a team that has just been promoted, I would go with the newbies, Saliba and Gabriel at the back. Training is great, however, there is nothing like real world experience to get one ready for the real world. Give them a shot, let’s see what they have. This is the Arsenal future, right, so why shouldn’t the future be now?

  1. Superb blog you have here but I was curious if you knew of any community forums that cover the
same topics discussed here? I’d really like to be a part of online community where I can get
comments from other experienced individuals that share the same interest.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Many thanks!
