Monday updates on the Premier League and Mikel Arteta

This will be a big week for the Premier League as the team owner meet on Thursday to discuss their options to save the 2019-2020 season. There is so much at stake, with so many people and so many dollars involved.

Here are the options the owners will be debating…
1. Declare this season null and void.
2, Declare Liverpool champions, or not.
3. Use the current league table to determine Champions League, Europa League, relegated, and delegated teams for next season.
4. Start next PL season with 22 teams by automatically moving the Championship top 2 teams Leeds United and West Brom Albion into the top flight.
5. Or, hope and pray they can extend the league season into the summer.

Here are a few questions of my own…
1. What happens to the European Championships this summer if domestic league spills over into June and July?
2. Will they consider playing games with no fans in attendance?
3. Who really get screwed in all of this?

Here’s another theory floating around the internet. Would the Premier League owners vote to make this season null and void, and then use last year’s final table to determine CL and EL places for net season? If so, due to Man City’s pending ban from European play, Arsenal would get a spot in the CL by virtue of last year’s 5th place finish. That’s a stretch, in my opinion, but never say never. Right?

Obviously, the owners will be working without some very incomplete information, like, when will the coronavirus settles down to a point that large crowds can once again gather without the fear of getting sick?

Stay tuned!

Also, Mikel Arteta’s wife has posted on Instagram that the manager is doing just fine during his recovery from the virus. She said, “My husband is feeling fine, he is well. It’s true that he had symptoms of the virus but the symptoms would never have stopped him from going to work in a normal situation.”

Finally, Arsenal’s head of medical service, Gary O’Driscoll will be staying at Arsenal following an attempt by Liverpool to lure him away.

Stay healthy. We will get through this together!
