Up to this point, it’s been a relatively quiet international break for Arsenal.
So far, so good on the injury front, as no Arsenal players on international duty have reported any knocks. Let’s hope this continues for another few days.
On the home front, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s ability to play on Saturday remains in limbo. There have been limited updates coming from the Arsenal camp on Auba’s ankle sprain, so it’s unclear how his recovery is progressing. Also, Kieren Tierney remains in isolation after his exposure to a Scottish teammate at the top of this international break. His absence on Saturday is a given.
Including the Community Shield win over Liverpool, Arsenal has 5 wins and only 1 defeat in the new season. The club is off to one of their best starts in recent history, largely because Mikel Arteta is developing a club built on teamwork, accountability and dedication. With or without Aubameyang and/or Tierney on Saturday, the Gunners will travel to Manchester City with only one goal in mind, to secure the three points.
So, while expecting these two players to be on the sideline on Saturday, here’s who I think Arteta will send out on Saturday at the Etihad…
Willian, Lacazette, Pepe
Xhaka, Elneny, Ceballos
Kolasinac, Gabriel, Luiz, Bellerin
Leno
We could possibly see Thomas Partey in relief late in the match.
Final score:
Man City 2 – Arsenal 3
