However, the club is now in turmoil. Russian owner Roman Abramovich has been heavily sanctioned by the UK government. His UK assists have been frozen, and he isn’t allowed to sell the club at this time. Sponsors are walking away, plus the club is banned from selling merchandise or tickets. Except for TV rights money their revenue stream is drying up.
Roman Abramovich has piled tons of cash into the club since he bought it back in 2003. He gave the Chelsea Football Club new life, and helped them win many trophies with his checkbook.
Today, however, through his alleged personal relationship with Russian president Vladimir Putin, Abramovich has potentially stained this great club’s reputation and financial stability for years to come.
No, I’m not a Chelsea supporter, but I do feel bad for the current blight at Stamford Bridge.
