The Back Nine begins!

As the Gunners make the turn to the season’s back nine, the club is hot! Goals are flying, points are chalking up on the table, and everyone is happy! Arsenal will begin 2022 in the Premier League’s Top Four!

So now the question is, what happens next?

I think the Gunners caught a break when the Wolves match was postponed due to COVID and injury issues in the Wolverhampton camp.  We also have our own COVID issues to deal with, plus Arsenal has played a rather robust December schedule already. Of course, this will mean a mid-week make-up game with Wolves will be scheduled later in the season, however the extra rest now for our squad should be beneficial prior to facing Pep Guardiola’s side on Saturday.

January will be an interesting month for our club, and will see the tone set for things to come, not only on the pitch, but off the pitch as well.

Mike Arteta, “It’s still a long long season to go ahead with a lot of unpredictable things probably that are going to happen, but we are there [in the top four]. We want to continue that and we want to continue improving and playing better and better and then let’s see where we get.”

On the pitch, next month will include big Premier League tests v Man City and Tottenham, as well as a two-leg semifinal match-up with Liverpool, and the beginning of Arsenal’s FA Cup season v Nottingham Forrest.

Off the pitch, January will undoubtedly have its share of drama as well, with the January transfer window in full swing.

The big question marks for Arsenal will be: What happens with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang? Will Eddie Niketiah, Mo Elneny, Calum Chambers and Sead Kolasinac be dropped, sold or loaned? Will Folarin Balogun and/or Ainsley Maitland-Niles go out on loan? Will Arsenal sign Renato Sanches or Phillips Coutinho, or will we sign a new striker to ultimately replace Aubameyang and Lacazette?

So many questions to be answered, all in the midst of our attempt to stay relative and in the league’s top four.

Arteta, Edu and the entire club have a lot of work to do as Arsenal hits the back nine in 2022!

Cheers.

  1. Phillips Coutinho, no. Waste if money we have enough midfielders.

Jan 1 we need a world class striker.

Auba offloaded, perhaps to Newcastle as they now have 2 big injured players, I think we have to keep Nketiah until end of season. Will be sad to see him go, but he will be invaluable for the remainder of this season.

Give Laca a two year contract. He inspires the team and knows how to score.

  2. You can never have enough good experienced players so Coutinho in, why not?
Give one last chance to Auba. We are in need of fit and proven strikers still got 20 games at least to go.
Find a defensive minded or holding midfield below 23.
Calvert Lewin is the target to get, in this window or summer.
