It took Gabriel Jesus only 90 seconds to endear himself to Gooner Nation as the Gunners’ newest signing opened his Arsenal scoring account with two goals v 1. FC Nurnberg on Friday. All the effort Edu Gaspar and Mkel Arteta put into securing the Brazilian striker’s signature this summer has already produced dividends, and hopefully, there will be many more to follow this season, and beyond.
All-in-all, Arsenal played a pretty solid game. Yes, there were a few defensive miscues early on that resulted in two goals for the German hosts, however, the second half was all Arsenal as Jesus and Mo Elneny provided the fireworks leading the Gunners to a 5-4 win in the preseason friendly. It was also great to see a healthy Kieran Tierney back on the pitch following a three month layoff following his injury.
Next up for Arsenal is a three-game swing through the United States beginning next Saturday in Baltimore v Everton.
Then it’s on to Orlando, Florida for a July 20th match v MLS-side Orlando City, and a USA-style London Derby v Chelsea on the 23rd. Yours truly will be alongside the Arsenal supporters for this one.
Ir’s great to see the Gunners back in action once again, and we anticipate seeing the entire squad have a chance to play in the States over the coming days. Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Lucas Torreira, Maruqinhos, Ben White and Gabriel will be among the players joining the traveling squad when the Gunners board the Emirates Airlines plane to the USA this week.
For me, this is shaping up to be an exciting season for all Arsenal supporters. With the new addition of new talent, and the possibility of more on the way, plus Arteta’s 2 1/2 seasons of managing Arsenal under his belt, we all can be hopeful the 2022/2023 season will be one to remember!
