A tip of the hat to the players of the Premier League for coming together to fund a charitable initiative that will support England during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here is part of their mission statement…
“Over the course of the last week we, as a group of Premier League players, have held numerous talks together with the vision of creating a contribution fund that can be used to distribute money to where it’s needed most in this COVID-19 crisis; helping those fighting for us on the NHS frontline as well as other key areas of need. This is a critical time for our country and for our NHS, and we are determined to help in any way that we can.
The Premier League previously asked players to defer 30% of their wages until the pandemic is over, however, the PFA rejected the league’s proposal, and instead started their own initiative, #Players Together.
I’m no financial wizard, however, I think the players’ communities will be able to find the appropriate distribution points for this money. If the players are generous with portions of their income, these donations will go along way to help the English medical community, and families currently suffering through this difficult period.
Let’s hope #Players Together will be as big a success as I think it can be!
Cheers, and stay healthy!
