It took Everton 25 years and some sloppy goalkeeping by Bernd Leno for the Toffees to finally defeat the Gunners in north London. The final score, Arsenal 0 – Everton 1.
So, Arsenal remains in 9th place in the Premier League table – for now. The Gunners could find themselves in 11th by the end of the weekend. This was not the result we had hoped for, but one that I predicted. It was also the club’s 13th Premier League loss this season.
Yes, it was a bad week for the Arsenal Football Club, and for that we can thank the ownership and leadership of this club. However, the final result on the pitch today is only to blame on the players and coaching staff. Period. Our current squad just doesn’t have that extra “something” to get them over the line. It’s missing, and Mikel Arteta just can’t seem to find it, no matter what combination of players he uses. Every now and then it clicks and that “something” appears, however, it then goes away as quickly as it came.
One of the squad’s biggest problems is their ball striking abilities when attacking the net. We have said this a million times, over and over. Why do we have so many chances that go wide or high or with not enough power? Yes, Arsenal face some of the best goalkeepers in Europe in the Premier League, however, too many times a solid chance at goal misses the target as the opponent’s goalkeepers watches the ball sail by.
Yes, this was a miserable week, but today was the cherry on top. I’m not giving up, not by a long shot, but this club is making it so hard to sleep at night.
I’m “Arsenal ’til I die,” but my nerves are shot – at least for today. But, I’ll be front of the TV again on Thursday at 3p EDT! 🙂
No cheers today.
