What does Chelsea have that Arsenal doesn’t have?
The Gunners twice defeated the Blues this past season, 3-1 at Stamford Bridge, and 1-0 at The Emirates. Obviously, we had a squad that could compete 11 v 11, however, at the end of the season, Chelsea won the Champions League and finished 4th in the Premier League’s final standings. Arsenal, on the other hand, finished 8th in the league, but did manage to win the Community Shield before the league season officially started.
So, what does Chelsea have that Arsenal doesn’t have to win the biggest trophy of all in European club football?
Well for one, Chelsea has a hands-on owner. Some will say maybe he is too involved, however, if you look at his results in the 18 years he has owned the club, Roman Abramovich has 2 Champions League trophies on his mantle. He has spent over $2.8-billion (USD) on player transfer sinces buying the club. Last summer alone, the Russian billionaire unloaded a league high $292-million (USD) on transfers, including German players Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, English defender Ben Chilwell, Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech, and Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. These number are provided by the website Transfermarkt. Obviously, his checkbook paid dividends on the pitch.
Second, Abramovich wasn’t afraid to make a managerial change halfway through the season. Frank Lampard wasn’t leaving up to the owner’s expectations, so on January 26th, he fired the Chelsea legend and hired veteran manager Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel has been managing resume since 2007 with teams such as Borussia Dortmund and PSG. He is also known as a tactical genius.
On the north side of London, Arsenal has an owner who occasionally sends his son across the Atlantic to put out fires. American owner Stan Kroenke spent $77.7-million (USD) last summer on transfers, which was 7th highest amount of money spent by the 20 Premier League teams in that transfer window. Kroenke has promised a much bigger transfer budget this summer.
Arsenal also have a first-time manager trying to pull the once mighty Gunners back out of the middle of the pack into contention for a top four spot. The Spaniard has had his good moments, and his bad ones too. The learning curve has been a tough one, but it appears Kroenke has given the young Arsenal boss a little more time going into this season.
The reality of the sport is that money can buy trophies, but so does experience. At this point in Arsenal history, the club needs the owner to spend big, and the manager to take that cash, buy quality players, and put a team on the field that can compete week-in and week-out. If he can’t do that, the owner needs to get involved an make a change.
I’m hopeful on two fronts, one, Kroenke spends big this summer, and two, Arteta succeeds. That would be a win/win for all of us who love and support this club!
So, what does Chelsea have that Arsenal doesn’t have? They’ll have nothing that we can’t have if the commitment, the experience and the dedication can all come together.

The Gunners defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on Wednesday to win both matches in this season’s North London Derby. With the win Arsenal moves back into 2nd place on the Premier League table.
According to The Mail, Arsenal, is in advanced talks to sign Real Sociedad Martin Zubimendi at the end of this season for a reported $61.2-million (USD).
Takehiro Tomiyasu has returned to full training with the first team after recovering from a knee injury. 
Martin Odegaard, “We need to be sharper in the key moments to make sure we get the results we’ve worked for. We have to keep going and keep improving. There is no choice for us now.”
Kroenke actually lacks everything in football, he is in for just business ,let him sell Arsenal to someone with sound mind else the team will disappear very soon
Kroenke is a business man not after trophy he can’t maintain the team spirit.
The Chelsea team last season do play their hearts out whenever they are on the pitch, aggressive, passion and zeal to conquer. I’m an arsenal fan I never missed watching our games, one match on three matches off, arsenal won on both legs against Chelsea just for the sake rivery
