Here are some quick thoughts on the USA National Team’s performance in Qatar at the World Cup…
First off, I thought their commitment, energy and determination were spot on. Even down 2-0 to Netherlands on Saturday, the US lads never lost their will to fight.
I thought Matt Turner did an exceptional job in goal for the USA. Prior to Saturday’s defeat, Matt had not allowed a single goal during open play.
Christian Pulisic is truly “Captain America.” His will to win and his overall talent will one day lead the US team to big time glory. Count on it! (Also, Arsenal should take a strong look at #10.)
Tyler Adams, Tim Ream, Westom McKennie and the entire squad will take away a lot of valuable experience for this World Cup.
So now head coach Gregg Berhalter needs to bolster his offense with a big number nine striker, and add a few more creative midfielders and fullbacks. This squad is getting very close to achieving their goals.
As an American, sure I’m disappointed, however, what this team did to further promote the game of soccer in the US was invaluable. The national pride speaks volumes about how the beautiful game is truly becoming a fixture among American sports fans!
