Can Arteta go 3-0 v Guardiola this season?

The international break is finally over, and it’s time to get back to business.

Sunday is a MUST win for Arsenal as the club chases a Premier League title, but so does Manchester City.

Let’s review the two meetings between these two clubs thus far this season, shall we?

August 6th – The Community Shield in Wembley Stadium. Leandro Trossard scored an equalizer in the 90th minute to send the match to penalty kicks. Then, the Gunners outscored the Cityzens 4-1 from the spot to win the Community Shield!

October 8th – Emirates Stadium. Gabriel Martinelli broke a 0-0 game with a shot to the back of the goal in the 86th minute.

So, in this campaign, Mikel Arteta is two for two over his mentor, Pep Guardiola.

Sunday will be a completely different animal. The match will be played in Etihad Stadium, where City does not lose many games, plus with Arsenal leading City by just one point on the league table, there will be blood in the water. Make no mistake.

The good news, there is a possibility Pep will not have all of his best players available. Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne, Edison Moraes, Manuel Akanji, John Stones and Matheus Nunes are all listed as “currently being assessed.”

On the Gunners side of the coin, Gabriel Martinelli will not be available, however, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Magalhaes are reportedly ready to play.

An Arsenal victory would be magnificent, however, a draw wouldn’t be a bad result either.

Can Arteta go 3-0 v Pep this season? We will find out on Sunday.
