My 2020-2021 Arsenal opening day wish list

There is so much up in the air right now regarding the status of really everything, including football.
Will the Premier League season finish, will there be a Champions League, Europa League or FA Cup finals? When will the transfer window open, close? Will there be a preseason? Does the 2020-2021 season begin on time in early August?

Whew…that’s a lot of questions, with no real answers in sight!

So, let’s pretend the coronavirus fades into oblivion at some point in the near future, the world goes back to its “normal” self, and the 2020-2021 Premier League season starts in August. Assuming, all of my transfer requests and signings come true, here is my wish list for Arsenal’s opening day starting XI.

Goalkeeper – Bernd Leno

Back four – Kieran Tierney, William Saliba, Pablo Mari, Hector Bellerin

Midfield – Mesut Ozil, Dani Ceballos, Granit Xhaka

Front line – Antione Griezmann, Pierre-Emerick Aubaymeng, Gabriel Martinelli

With that said, we will need to sign Aubameyang, Mari, Ceballos, and Griezmann. This is a lot to ask of the Arsenal front honchos, however, they need to splash some cash if they want to get back to the Arsenal of old, and provide Arteta with a team that can win consistently.

There are other transfer rumors flying around as well, including James Rodriguez, Chris Smalling and Dayot Upamecano, to name a few. However, at this time, the Gunners need to focus on a smaller list, since we can’t afford a complete overhaul. I still think Lacazette, Maitland-Niles, Kolasinac, Sokratis, Guendouzi, Mkhitaryan, Mustafi and Eleney could be on a list of potential players to exit the Emirates this summer.

Lord, I miss football!

Cheers, and stay healthy!
